Context
Qualtrics is a platform that allows you to create and send surveys. DSST uses Qualtrics for network surveys such as the Mid and End of Year Survey, and the Network Pulse Survey. Any survey that will require a Polaris dashboard to display survey responses, will be required to be sent using Qualtrics. This article provides key information to consider when creating a survey that will have its data displayed in Polaris.
Steps
When creating your survey, keep in mind the following:
- Question Types
- Only Multiple Choice, Matrix, and Comment question types will be available for Polaris Reporting. If you would like to use a different question type, you are welcome to but it will not be available for reporting in Polaris. If you would like to request SDev to begin loading an additional question type, please submit to this form.
- Additional Non-Survey Data

- If you'd like your Polaris report to include any data that is not recorded as part of the survey, the survey must meet the following requirements:
- Be distributed using one of the following distribution methods within Qualtrics. These methods will generate a unique link for each contact in a contact list, allowing for their response to be linked to additional backend data:
- Personal Links
- Emails
- Be distributed to members of one of the following Contact Lists:
- "DSST Active Staff" containing all staff with WD Employee Status of "Active"
- "DSST Active & On-Leave Staff" containing all staff with WD Employee Status of "Active" or "On Leave"
- "DSST Currently Enrolled Students" containing all students with a current school enrollment
- Be distributed using one of the following distribution methods within Qualtrics. These methods will generate a unique link for each contact in a contact list, allowing for their response to be linked to additional backend data:
- If you'd like your Polaris report to include any data that is not recorded as part of the survey, the survey must meet the following requirements:

- You must add the following users as Collaborators on your project in Qualtrics with full permissions enabled. This will allow them to set up the API integration that ultimately feeds Polaris. The users are:
