Overview
Within the Microsoft Translator App, you will see a camera icon. This feature allows you to take a picture, and the app will translate the text within the picture. This is a really great feature for translating pages in books, printed texts, etc. The formatting of the text can impact the accuracy of translation. However, we have not encountered issues with our uses and practices in this area. Use the steps and supports below to translate using the camera feature in the Microsoft Translator App.
Capture Text for Translation
Open the Microsoft Translator App using your mobile device or tablet. If you do not have the app, you can download it from the App Store on your device. You will see a camera icon at the bottom of your screen; click the icon to make sure the app has access to your camera.
Once your camera is open, you can align it to the text you wish to have translated. When you're ready, push the camera button again. After a few seconds, you'll see the translated text (as shown below)!
Changing Languages and Other Tools
Once you've translated your item will notice that there are a variety of options at the top of the screen.
| 1. Share: This will allow you to share the image with the translated text. This may be helpful if you are using a specific text for activities. | |
| 2. Translation Toggle: This button allows you to toggle the translation overlay on and off. | |
|
3. Favorite: Choosing the star icon allows you to favorite an image.
4: Delete: Choosing the trashcan icon allows you to delete the image and begin again. |
