Overview
There have been changes to the "Instruction" and "Campus Tools" view in Infinite Campus after DPS' updates throughout the last few months. While these interface changes are currently an option to toggle between, we encourage staff to use the new interface as we believe this change will be a permanent shift in the future.
Please know that these changes will require users to explore and learn to navigate the new interface. We have put together a starting place of resources to support this transition. If you wish to explore the Infinite Campus resources on these changes you can find them here (Campus Learning & Instruction). You can find the supports for these changes in the options below!

How do I turn "ON" the new Campus Tools interface?
Currently, the default interface is still set to the old Campus Tools interface. It was communicated by DPS that the new interface would be the default but that does not seem to be set yet (as of Tuesday, January 2, 2024.) We will update this article as that changes. Please follow the steps and supports below to learn how to turn "ON" the new Campus tools interface.
Step One
Select your "profile" button in the top right-hand corner. Then select the toggle next to "Try the new look" as shown below. You can turn this toggle on and off as you wish.
How do I navigate the new interface for Campus Tools?
When users log in they first see a full page view of the "Message Center". These are messages sent from DPS as previously shown on the login screen. Users will now need to select the buttons with three lines in the top left-hand corner to show the menu, which you will see in the image below.
All the resources and tools still exist but the interface has been reorganized into a tiered system.
- Menu Options: List of items within the menu
- Categories: Subsections of "Menu Options" which contain tools within that category.
- Tools: The individual tools and options for using Infinite Campus.
- Categories: Subsections of "Menu Options" which contain tools within that category.
If you cannot find a specific tool you can use the "Search" tool to locate it. Your search results will also display the click path to access the tool in the new interface, as shown below.
Lastly, within a section, you will have a "Toolbar" on the right-hand side with related tools or resources. These are typically the tools you would see in the tabs at the top of the screen. You will see that below.
How do I use the "Favorites" tool?
The menu of options will be very different from the original view and you may find that you have a hard time navigating to find the tools you have used previously. One tool you may find helpful in this shift is the "Favorites" menu users can build. This allows for easy access to your frequently used tools.
To add a section to your "Favorites" find the section from the main menu. This process can be seen below.
How do I toggle on/off the new Campus Learning interface?
To turn on or off the new Campus Learning interface begin by selecting the profile button in the top right-hand corner. The last option in the menu will be a toggle button which allows users to turn on or off this interface. This can be seen below.

How do I navigate the new "Classroom" view?
In the "Classroom" view everything is organized by class instead of by category or action. Where you used to see "Grade Book", and "Attendance", etc. you only see a handful of options. To access these features you have to navigate to the specific class as shown below.
Classroom
The Classroom tab sorts your assignments for the particular class/section into:
- Due Today: curriculum whose End Date is today.
- In Progress: curriculum for which today falls within the Start and End Dates.
- Upcoming: curriculum with a Start Date in the next week.
You will also see that there is a "Take Attendance" button as well. It will have a green checkmark after attendance is taken as you can see in the image below.
Curriculum
The Curriculum tab displays all the curriculum for a class/section across terms. You can see how many assignments have been scored, what for the course is unscored, and missing assignments with the options at the top. You can see this in the image below.
Students
The Students tab collects a variety of tools related to classroom administration for the selected class/section. Here you will see the list of tools you can select from:
- Roster- Here you can view rosters
- Advisory- The first screen lists students with the number of assignments they have flagged as missing or late and the number of non-passing grades.
- Attendance- Here you can take and manage attendance for the class/section you've selected.
- Lockers- This allows teachers to manage locker administration for the class/section you've selected.
- Seating Charts- Here you can create, view, and manage seating charts for the class/section you've selected.
- Student Groups- If you've created student groups for the particular class/section here you can view and manage them.
Grades
The Grades tab collects scoring and grading tools for the class/section you selected.
What is the difference between the "Teaching Center" view and the "Classroom" View?
The "Classroom" is a new way of navigating Instruction that provides commonly used tools in a specific section. Compared to the traditional tool-based organization, "Classroom" provides a section-based experience to streamline a teacher's time in Campus. "Classroom" is enabled for teachers by default. In Classroom, tools are divided into four tabs: Classroom, Curriculum, Students, and Grades. This guide is meant to provide a brief introduction to these different tabs. A teacher may also choose to revert to the old view and view as a student where available.
How do I toggle on/off the new "Classroom" interface?
"Classroom" is enabled for teachers by default.
To turn it off use the toggle in the top corner of the Teaching Center (formerly Control Center).
