Purpose: All DSST Team members must submit a time off request using the guide below. With no exceptions, all time-off & leave must be tracked in Workday. If you would like to view, cancel, or correct your time off please reference this guide. If you need to submit a leave of absence, please review this guide and also reference our FMLA Guide for additional information and FMLA guidelines.
How to Enter a Time Off Request
Step 1: From your home-page, click on the Menu icon:
Step 2: In the “Personal” section of the Menu, click on the “Absence” application:
Step 3: In the “Request” section, click on “Request Absence” to view your absence calendar:
Step 4: On the next screen, you will see your Absence Calendar. You can either select your time off using one of the two methods:
Option 1: Calendar
- Select the dates on the calendar:
- Click inside the "Type of Absence" box and either select the time off type or search the name of the time off type:
- Once you select the time off type, scroll through the instructional Information, then select the number of hours for each day requested
- To edit the number of hours for each date, select "Edit Individual Days" and then scroll down and click on the individual dates to edit the number of hours for each date:
- If needed, you can enter a note in the comment sections, and you can attach documents by clicking “Select Files” then click “Submit Request” at the bottom of the page.
Option 2: Date Range
- Click on "Date Range" at the top of the Absence Calendar and enter the start date and end date for your time off, then click "Continue":
- Click inside the "Type of Absence" box and either select the time off type or search the name of the time off type:
- Once you select the time off type, scroll through the instructional Information, then select the number of hours for each day requested
- To edit the number of hours for each date, select "Edit Individual Days" and then scroll down and click on the individual dates to edit the number of hours for each date:
- If needed, you can enter a note in the comment sections, and you can attach documents by clicking “Select Files” then click “Submit Request” at the bottom of the page.
How to Revise a Time Off Request that was Sent Back to You by Your Manager or School Absence Coordinator
If a time off request needs to be changed or is sent back to you, a notification will be sent to your inbox. The reason the request was sent back will be noted in the comments section at the bottom of the page. You will need to make the necessary changes as advised in the notes by your manager, then click "Submit" to resubmit your request for approval.
